More and more people are taking an interest in the network and what is travelling around and through it. Areas such as audit, security and business continuity management are all showing an interest. Understanding the structure of networks and the interpretation of network traffic requires a knowledge and understanding of tools and technique to analyse data to provide information.

The book ‘Network troubleshooting tools’ goes into depth providing an insight into the world of network management. The book bases many of the concepts around using Unix or Linux, which after all is the native language of the Internet. Although primarily intended for network administrators, this book with some of the others in the series will be useful to those wanting to learn how to gather and interpret network information.

There is an excellence resources section in the book, explaining where to download various free and shareware network analysis tools.
