Title: DNS & Bind

Author: Paul Albitz & Cricket Liu

Publisher: O’Reilly

ISBN: 0-596-00158-4  Price: £ 31.95

This book will either become your best friend, a curious addition to your library or an educational tool. A strange but true way to introduce a title! The book explains end to end how Bind and DNS works. For those of the best friend (highly technical category), you’ll probably already own the previous edition, the new one has all of the latest information on Bind 9, I need not say much more.

The curious will find the book a fascinating read on how the internets “directory enquiries” hangs together. Anyone wanting to really understand the internet will find the book useful. The book is technical, but it is well illustrated and is readable.

The educational side also rings true, anyone who wants to understand Unix and the Internet communications systems will discover the book to be a must have, especially if your involved in security.

This book is one of those classic must haves for the serious support technician or network manager.
